The CEO will lead a small but dynamic team and partner closely with local government, businesses, and community organizations to drive sustainable tourism growth that benefits residents and visitors alike.

Visit Longmont is the community of Longmont’s destination marketing and management organization or DMMO, responsible for promoting Longmont to potential travelers from around the world. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Destination Marketing & Sales

• Direct tourism promotion and creative asset management by overseeing the creation, publication and distribution of social and digital media campaigns, messaging, printed collateral, including Visit Longmont’s official visitor guide and other promotional materials.
• Create, lead, and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to attract meetings, events, conferences, and other group business to Longmont, in partnership with the City and local venues.
• Oversee marketing initiatives as part of the LTID plan, leveraging and coordinating with Visit Longmont’s core marketing goals and objectives.
• Seek marketing grants, sponsorships, and other collaborations to fund marketing initiatives, and leverage resources.
• Utilize research and data analysis to establish key performance indicators to provide input on strategy, set performance metrics, and share findings with the Boards of Directors, City partners, and other key stakeholders.

Operations, Finance, Administration

The CEO is responsible for overseeing operations of the organization and managing its staff, contractors, and resources. This includes managing the newly established LTID.

• Direct execution of the strategies, goals, and objectives of the organization.
• Recommend and administer policies and procedures, organizational documents.
• Prepare & manage annual finances in support of a board approved budget, including marketing and project budgets; and all other financial matters, and other reporting as required.
• Create and implement an annual Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the LTID and Visit Longmont outlining funding allocations, responsibilities, collaborative projects, and shared goals.
• Collaborate with the Treasurer and/or Executive Committee to review and approve monthly financial statements.
• Serve as Human Resources Administrator, responsible for recruiting and retaining personnel and all functions related thereto. Select, train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of additional staff; assign work activities; monitor workflow; and ensure all programs are conducted in an efficient and timely manner and in compliance with applicable policies and procedures.

Partnerships & Engagement

The CEO is a key champion for the tourism industry for the community.

• Work closely with the City of Longmont to strengthen partnerships and align tourism initiatives with city priorities and investments.
• Collaborate with the Advance Longmont Ecosystem partner organizations to help implement the community’s economic development strategy, ensuring alignment with tourism, workforce, and business growth objectives.
• Advocate and educate community and stakeholders about issues that impact tourism businesses.
• Ability to maintain effective, positive, and transparent relationships and communications with local businesses, nonprofit, residents, media partners, and public sector stakeholders.
• Develop successful working relationships with neighboring communities, as well as regional and state tourism industry partners.
• Represent Visit Longmont at selected local, state, regional and national meetings, including working with and maximizing partnership with Colorado Tourism Office.

Destination and Visitor Management

• Advocate for responsible visitation via strategic partnerships.
• Encourage responsible recreation development and stewardship for the betterment of the destination, community, and residents.
• Collect and analyze visitor, hotel, and other data to inform marketing and destination management strategies.

Business Development

• Plan, advocate, recruit and/or implement strategies, infrastructure, or other projects with the objective of developing and expand the tourism sector to increase meetings, events, attractions, recreation, arts, culture to attract visitors.
• Assist with the expansion and/or recruitment of tourism-related businesses, venues, or organizations that strengthen Longmont’s visitor economy.
• Build relationships, promote and implement strategies that encourage tourism including sporting events in Longmont
• Establish and maintain relationships with hospitality industry partners including lodging operators, restaurant operators, outdoor recreation providers, venue operators, tour companies, event planners to build or enhance impact visitation.
• Foster collaboration with City departments, developers, and economic partners to encourage investment in tourism infrastructure and visitor-serving amenities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, tourism, business administration, communications, public administration, or a related field required; advanced degree or equivalent leadership experience preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in destination marketing, tourism, hospitality, economic development, or nonprofit management.
• Demonstrated success in managing small teams and organizations with accountability for strategic direction, financial stewardship, and operational results.
• Experience working effectively with a volunteer board of directors and collaborating across public, private, and business sectors.
• Proven ability to develop and manage organizational budgets, diversify funding sources, and align resources with strategic priorities.

Leadership & Strategy

• Visionary and hands-on leader able to balance strategy and execution within a lean organizational structure.
• Demonstrated success in setting strategic priorities that advance tourism while preserving local character and quality of life.
• Experience developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies that grow awareness, visitation, and community benefit.
• Knowledge of destination management practices, including sustainable tourism, visitor flow, and resident engagement.

Community & Partnership Building

• Exceptional relationship builder with a collaborative leadership style; skilled at bringing together city, regional, business, and community partners to achieve shared outcomes.
• Comfortable serving as a primary spokesperson and advocate for the destination to residents, partners, and media.
• Demonstrated ability to foster trust, transparency, and shared vision among diverse stakeholders.

Operational & Technical Skills

• Familiarity with special districts and tourism funding models, like Tourism Improvement Districts.
• Proficiency in marketing analytics, CRM tools, and tourism research to inform data-driven decisions.
• Strong financial management and grant administration skills, with attention to compliance and reporting.
• Experience managing contracts, vendors, and public-sector relationships. • Competence in organizational planning, performance tracking, and team development.
• Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred
• Certified Destination Management Executive credential preferred

SALARY AND POSITION

This is a regular, full-time, and salaried position. The CEO reports directly to a 13-member, volunteer board of directors. Visit Longmont offers a suite of health, life insurance and retirement benefits. Salary Range: $105,000- $120,000 DOE. Location: Longmont, Colorado (onsite).
